Your aura is the electromagnetic field that surrounds your physical body. It's not just some woo-woo concept. It's measurable, tangible energy that extends several feet around you in all directions.
Think of it as your energetic skin. Everything you experience—emotions, interactions, environments, thoughts—leaves an imprint on this field. Some of those imprints are beautiful. Others? They're energetic debris that needs to be cleared.
When your aura is clear and strong, you feel:
Grounded and centered
Protected from external chaos
Aligned with your highest frequency
Magnetic to what you truly desire
Clear in your intuition and decision-making
When your aura is cluttered or compromised, you experience:
Unexplained fatigue or brain fog
Emotional overwhelm that doesn't match your actual circumstances

Difficulty manifesting or moving forward
Physical symptoms with no clear medical cause
Signs Your Aura Needs Cleansing
You feel energetically heavy for no reason. If you wake up exhausted despite getting enough sleep, or you feel weighed down by emotions that don't actually belong to you, your aura is carrying too much.
You're absorbing other people's emotions. Empaths and sensitive people often confuse someone else's anxiety, anger, or sadness for their own. That's energetic absorption, and it happens when your aura doesn't have clear boundaries.

You can't shake the energy of a particular person or place. Ever leave a conversation and still feel the other person's presence lingering? That's their energy stuck in your field.
Your intuition feels muted or unclear. When your aura is cluttered, it's harder to hear your own inner guidance. The static of other people's energy drowns out your soul's voice.
You're attracting the same problems on repeat. What you carry energetically becomes what you attract magnetically. If your aura is holding onto old patterns, pain, or frequencies that don't serve you, you'll keep manifesting more of the same.
How to Cleanse Your Aura: Techniques That Actually Work
1. Smoke Cleansing: Palo Santo vs. Sage
Palo Santo is my go-to for most cleansing work. It not only clears heavy energy, but it also brings in positive, uplifting vibes. Think of it as a cleanse-and-elevate tool. It leaves the space feeling lighter and more aligned.
Sage, on the other hand, is a total reset. It's like a palate cleanse for your energy field. Sage doesn't just clear the bad—it clears everything and gives you a completely neutral slate to work with. Use sage when you need a full energetic reboot.
Important: When you're working with sage, open your windows and doors. You're not just clearing the energy—you need to let it OUT. Give it somewhere to go. Otherwise, you're just moving it around the room.

Move the smoke around your entire body, starting at your crown and working down to your feet. Set the intention: "I release all energy that is not mine. I clear my field completely."
This isn't just about the physical act. It's about the energetic command you're giving. Your intention is the real tool. The smoke is just the amplifier.
2. Let Fresh Air In
Sometimes the simplest solution is the most effective. Open your windows. Let fresh air circulate through your space. Stagnant air holds stagnant energy. Fresh air resets the entire mood of a room and helps clear lingering heaviness from your aura, too.
3. Salt Baths or Showers
Water is one of the most powerful cleansing elements. Water is programmable; which means that you can set intentions, speak over it, etc. it will "set". Add sea salt or Epsom salt to your bath, and visualize all heavy energy dissolving into the water. If you're showering, imagine the water washing away everything that isn't serving your highest good. (You cannot go wrong with a salt bath... definitely not a basic bxtch.)
Pro tip: Speak your intention out loud. "I cleanse my energy field. I release what no longer serves me. I am protected and clear."
4. Peppermint Essential Oil
Peppermint is a high-vibe essential oil that elevates your frequency fast. A little goes a long way, so use it sparingly. I use peppermint oil before sessions and in spiritual baths when I need to raise my vibration quickly. It's sharp, clean, and instantly shifts the energy.
Dilute a drop or two in a carrier oil and apply it to your wrists, temples, or the back of your neck. You can also add it to your bath or diffuse it in your space.
5. Sound Healing: Clapping, Bowls, and Voice
Sound vibrations literally break up stagnant energy in your field. Clapping is one of the oldest and simplest methods. Walk through your space and clap in the corners, doorways, and areas where energy feels stuck. You'll feel the shift immediately.
Singing bowls and tuning forks work on a deeper level, using specific frequencies to clear and recalibrate your energy. You can also use your own voice. Singing, chanting, or toning raises your vibration and clears your field naturally.

Play sound around your body, or simply listen with the intention to clear and align.
6. Crystals: Clear Quartz and Selenite
Clear quartz and selenite are my go-to crystals for cleansing and resetting vibes. Clear quartz amplifies intention and clears energy blockages, while selenite has a purifying, high-frequency energy that doesn't need to be cleansed itself.
I keep selenite on my workspace and use clear quartz during and after sessions to reset the energy. You can place these crystals around your body, hold them during meditation, or keep them in your space to maintain a clear energetic field.
Pro tip: Selenite is self-cleansing and can also cleanse other crystals. Keep a piece in your toolkit.
7. Visualization & Energy Work
Close your eyes. Visualize a brilliant white or violet light surrounding your entire body. See it burning away any dark spots, heavy energy, or attachments. Imagine it forming a protective shield around you that only allows in what serves your highest good.
This is especially powerful for empaths who need daily protection in high-stress environments.
8. Grounding
Walk barefoot on the earth. Touch a tree. Sit on the ground. Physical grounding helps discharge excess energy your body has absorbed. The earth literally pulls it out of you and neutralizes it.
If you can't get outside, visualize roots growing from the soles of your feet deep into the earth, releasing everything that isn't yours.
9. Breathwork
Conscious breathing moves energy. Inhale deeply through your nose, hold for 4 counts, exhale through your mouth for 6 counts. As you exhale, release everything—physically, emotionally, energetically.
Do this for 5 to 10 minutes daily, and your aura will thank you.
Creating Energetic Boundaries (So You Don't Have to Cleanse as Often)
Cleansing your aura is essential. But so is preventing the accumulation of junk in the first place.
Set boundaries with people who drain you. You're allowed to limit contact with energy vampires. Your aura doesn't need to be an open door.

Shield yourself before entering heavy environments. Before going into a crowded space, a difficult conversation, or a chaotic environment, visualize that protective light around you. Command it: "I am protected. Only love enters my field."
Stop taking on other people's emotions. Just because you can feel what someone else is feeling doesn't mean you're supposed to carry it for them. Acknowledge it, but don't absorb it.
Cleanse regularly, not just when you're in crisis. Daily aura maintenance is like brushing your teeth. You don't wait until you have a cavity to start caring for your dental health. Same principle applies here.
Your Aura Is Your Responsibility
No one else is going to protect your energy for you. No one else is going to cleanse your field. No one else is responsible for what you allow into your space.
Your frequency is your responsibility. Cleanse accordingly.
The energy you tolerate becomes the energy you embody. The energy you embody becomes what you attract. If you want to shift your reality, start with your aura.
